Canadian Organic Growers and the Organic Federation of Canada are alarmed by Agriculture and Agri‑Food Canada’s (AAFC) decision to eliminate researchers and staff, close research facilities, and wind down key research programs working towards new food safety, security, and production growth innovations.

In the summer of 2025, the Regenerative Organic Oats (ROO) program was in full swing across the fields of participating Prairie farmers. Early in the morning one day in late July, ROO Program Coordinator Alia headed to Stenen, SK to visit Wayne at WWR Omelchuk Farms.

COG is seeking a Program Manager for our Growing Up Organic (GUO) program. GUO is an in school, curriculum connected, hands-on program that teaches children and youth about organic agriculture, healthy nutrition, and environmental issues currently based in Ottawa, ON.

This 90-minute workshop explores some potential applications of AI tools for small farm operations, from agronomic planning to business management. Drawing from practical examples and hands-on farming experience, Crooked Farmz in Toronto, ON will suggest how AI can expand capacity beyond what a sole proprietor or small-scale farmer could accomplish alone.
Bin-run seed, the portion of the crop that farmers save for next year’s planting, remains an important part of most farm operations, but there’s a lot more to the story of where our field crop seed comes from! In this webinar, turn your attention to field crops— like oats, dry-beans, and forages —to ask the question: Where do our seeds come from?
Join Meghan (Central-North Land Matcher) to learn how you can access land for farming or make your land available to a farmer. Meghan will explain how sharing land can be mutually beneficial for farmers and landholders, as well as highlight best practices, relevant regulations and considerations, and tips for building and maintaining a successful land sharing relationship.
