Webinar FAQs

What is a webinar?

It is a web-based conference bringing the expertise of today’s agricultural leaders that will inform and inspire you from the comfort of your home or office.  Anyone can participate as long as they have a computer and an internet connection. Even computers connected by a dial-up service can participate.

What if I am late in getting on?

The COG webinars are scheduled to last one hour. You can log in any time during that hour.  Registration is always open, even when a webinar is on.

What if I have a problem logging on?

Your browser pop-up blocker must be disabled to log on. The system will remind you to do this and also provide you with a link that will bypass your pop-up blocker.

If you enter the webinar but cannot hear anything or see anything, you may be on a computer network firewall that is preventing access. (Perform the firewall test to find out). If this is the case, you must log on using a computer that is not part of a network firewall.

What am I supposed to do when I log into the webinar?

Simply watch and listen (be sure to have your speakers or headset volume turned up). If you have dial-up or a lighter version of high speed, you can deactivate the video during live sessions by clicking on the box next to the "Receive video" text that is located at the bottom of the video area. This will uncheck the box and deactivate the video, which should improve your reception of the webinar.

At the bottom of the left side of the screen, you will see the Questions box. You can use this feature to send your questions to the presenter by typing in your questions and clicking on “Send.” You can also use the Public Chat box to converse with other participants before the webinar starts.

What if I have to leave the webinar while it is on?

No problem. Simply close the window. You can log back in later. You can also choose to minimize the webinar screen so that you only hear the presentation.

Is there anything that could interfere with my access to the webinar?

Yes. If you have other programs open on your computer, such as an e-mail program, and are doing work on your computer during the webinar, you may notice that the webinar audio cuts out or the webinar slows down or freezes. We strongly recommend that you close all other software programs during the webinar.
