Vancouver Island Chapter
Welcome to our chapter page! Organic farmers founded our local organization in 1990, meeting on a regular basis to exchange information, and to share resource purchasing. In 1995, this group went on to join COG, forming our local chapter COG-VI. Our members, organic farmers and market gardeners and interested community members, are situated on southern Vancouver Island.

We are a very active group, meeting monthly throughout the year and holding special events to mark the seasons.
In the summer we coordinate a very popular monthly tour of local farm. Each month we visit one interesting/innovative farm and enjoy a tour by the farmer. In the winter we often meet to trade seeds, run workshops or host guest speakers.
We send out a popular monthly newsletter with columns by local growers and updates on issues important to the organic community.
We also host a well-subscribed listserv where members can freely share their views and news with everyone else.
We welcome your involvement and hope to see you soon!
GOALS OF COG-VI
To strengthen the organic farming community by a regular exchange of knowledge and information, organized farm tours, winter-speaker series, promotion of organic growers, and by special events
To inform consumers of healthy food choices and of organic practices
To address rural issues such as land protection
To participate in our local food security systems by offering educational
opportunities and support to farmers
COG-VI is a vibrant, active and diverse group - we hope you will join us and benefit from what we offer.
